4 Things to Consider When Choosing the Best Wedding Venues for Yourself

Choosing your wedding one is only the first of the many big decisions you will make when planning your wedding. Your wedding venue will set the tone for the rest of your special day. The problem is, how to choose the right venue out of so many?

Don’t worry folks! We came up with a guide of sorts that can help you choose the best wedding venue.

Location

The location is one of the most critical things you will want to consider when venue hunting. Decide where you want to have your wedding. Some couples prefer a wedding near the city they currently live in. Others might be interested in a destination wedding. You will also have friends and family coming from out of town. Accessibility of the venue is another factor. If you choose a venue that’s close to the city, you will not have to worry about guest accommodations and travel. An off-beat wedding venue on the other hand will likely make things harder in terms of living arrangements and transportation.

When you go venue-hunting, make sure to ask the manager for recommendations.

Budget

Typically, we recommend couples allocate 15-20% of their total budget to the venue. Do note that the budget can creep higher if the venue comes with added facilities. Before you book the place, have a talk with the venue manager to discuss everything that comes with the venue and extra costs if any.

A venue with better amenities, dedicated security, and accessibility will cost more. Another venue may cost less but have questionable suitability. Apart from this obvious distinction, some venues may see a price hike due to popular demand, but at the same time, a venue is only popular when the people know it is good. Make a pros and cons list to figure out if the money you are paying is worth the services you are getting in return.

Size & Guest Count

When you start touring wedding venues, have a number in mind and try to stick to it. You don’t need to have your guest list written down but it’s good to have a realistic guesstimate of how many invites you will be sending out.

It is also important that you keep in mind the service style of your reception. For cocktail-style receptions with hors d’oeuvres and drinks, you can opt for a high-capacity party. A full sit-down dinner, on the other hand, will need more space and thus be low capacity.

Decor & Aesthetics

You probably already have a vision of what you want your big day to look like. Transforming a space into your dream venue has a lot to do with decor and theme but at the same time, the blank canvas must be able to accommodate your vision without much trouble.

For example, if you have a rustic romantic theme in mind, look for venues with exposed brick and a neutral color palette. To add a natural, airy element, find venues with ample sunlight, open spaces, and tall ceilings.

In our experience of running one of the best wedding venues in Oklahoma, we often found couples prefer to leave the space as it is and only add subtle modifications. Not only does this save you money, but it is also a huge burden off your chest to know that the decor has been taken care of.
